Almost 50 years since the emergence of community-based tourism (CBT) confusion about this concept and its practices persist. This book is a modest attempt by the author to clarify CBT concepts and practices by consolidating his previous work on various aspects of CBT. The book actively promotes a CBT approach and proposes various strategies to advance and expand it.
At the same time the book proposes that while further debate on the different aspects of CBT development should be encouraged, it remains important to acknowledge the milieu in which it currently operates, calling for deep introspection on the part of international and local entities that support it.
