Teksty prezentowane w niniejszym tomie zostały napisane przez uczestniczki seminarium zatytułowanego „Narrating Art and Feminism(s): Eastern Europe and Latin America”. W ramach seminarium badaczki z obu regionów spotykały się regularnie, dyskutując o sposobach podważenia dominującej narracji na temat sztuki i feminizmu. Zastanawiały się również, jak powinien wyglądać alternatywny dyskurs globalny.

W ubiegłych latach zrealizowano kilka projektów, które bazowały na porównaniu sztuki tworzonej w Europie Wschodniej i w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Niniejszy tom rozszerza te badania, przenosząc punkt ciężkości ze sztuki na narracje historyczno-artystyczne ukazane w perspektywie porównawczej. Tematyczny korpus tekstów uzupełniają trzy eseje: dwa analizują międzynarodową wymianę kulturalną na przykładzie duńskiej artystki i pisarki Dei Trier Morch oraz polskiej rzeźbiarki Magdaleny Abakanowicz, a trzeci omawia sposób, w jaki polski performans negocjował swoją pozycję między teatrem a galerią sztuki.

The texts presented in this volume were written by the participants of a research seminar entitled “Narrating Art and Feminism(s): Eastern Europe and Latin America”. The seminar gathered scholars from both regions who met regularly to exchange interregional and trans-regional perspectives on how to undermine the dominant narrative regarding art and feminism and how to envision the construction of an alternative global discourse.

In previous years, several projects have offered a comparison of art created in Eastern Europe and Latin America. This volume contributes to this scholarship by shifting focus from art to art historical narratives in comparative perspective. The thematic body of texts is followed by three other essays: two analyse international cultural exchange on the example of Danish artist and writer Dea Trier Morch, as well as Polish sculptress Magdalena Abakanowicz, and the third discusses how Polish performance negotiated its position between theatre and art gallery.
