Niniejsza publikacja jest efektem pracy studentów obecnego II roku studiów magisterskich na kierunku filologia angielska. Początkowo miał to być krótki, jednorazowy projekt stanowiący broszurę pamiątkową. Przekłady polskich wierszy autorstwa piotrkowskiej poetki Aleksandry Fidziańskiej wykonane przez studentów zasługują jednak na osobną publikację, gdyż świadczą o wysokim poziomie kompetencji językowych, wrażliwości na formę poetycką oraz autentycznym
zaangażowaniu w pracę z tekstem źródłowym. Tłumaczenia są nie tylko poprawne pod względem językowym, lecz przede wszystkim twórcze: ukazują bowiem umiejętność zachowania równowagi pomiędzy wiernością oryginałowi, a wymogami poetyckiej ekspresji w języku angielskim. W trakcie całego procesu tłumaczeniowego studenci wykazali się wyjątkową otwartością, świadomością interpretacyjną oraz gotowością do eksperymentowania z językiem. Ich praca wyraźnie odzwierciedla zaangażowanie, uważną współpracę oraz głęboki szacunek zarówno dla polskich pierwowzorów, jak i anglojęzycznej tradycji literackiej.
This publication is the result of a translation assignment carried out by second-year MA students in the English Philology programme. Initially, it was intended as a short, one-off project in the form of a commemorative brochure. However, the students’ translations of Polish poems by the Piotrków-based poet Aleksandra Fidzińska deserve a separate publication, as they demonstrate a high level of linguistic competence, sensitivity to poetic form, and genuine engagement with the source text. The translations are not only linguistically accurate but, above all, creative: they reveal the students’ ability to maintain a balance between fidelity to the original and the demands of poetic expression in English. Throughout the translation process, the students displayed exceptional openness, interpretative awareness, and a willingness to experiment with language. Their work clearly reflects commitment, attentive collaboration, and a deep respect for both the source texts and the English-language literary tradition.
