In the subsequent chapters researchers specializing in the field of Japanese studies discuss the uniqueness or universality of Japanese philosophy, history, aesthetics, and visual arts, reflecting on Japan’s contribution to world civilization in relation to the globalizing world of blurred boundaries.

Pierwszy tom tekstów będący efektem międzynarodowej konferencji z okazji 100-lecia studiów japonistycznych na Uniwersytecie Warszawskim otwierają dwa artykuły będące hołdem dla historii i tradycji badań nad Japonią w Polsce. W kolejnych rozdziałach specjaliści z dziedziny japonistyki omawiają kwestie wyjątkowości i/lub uniwersalności japońskiej filozofii, historii, estetyki oraz sztuk wizualnych, zastanawiając się nad wkładem Japonii w cywilizację światową w odniesieniu do globalizującego się świata, w którym granice się zacierają.
